Denver’s Asian American Journalists Association chapter elects new leadership

The Asian American Journalists Association’s Denver chapter (AAJA-Denver) recently wrapped up its 2012 elections. The new officers will begin their term on Jan. 1.

Vice President Joe Nguyen will take over for outgoing President Gil Asakawa, who has served the role since 2009. KDVR reporter Chris Jose is the new vice president. Tillie Fong and Andy Vuong were re-elected as secretary and treasurer, respectively. Continue reading

AAJA Denver members find new jobs

Brandon is the new photographer at the Farmington Daily-Times in Farmington, N.M. He had previously attended Colorado State University.

Joe Nguyen
Joe is a new community journalist at Your Hub. He had previously worked at The Aurora Sentinel and attended Metropolitan State College of Denver.

Denver becomes 21st AAJA chapter

LOS ANGELES – The Asian American Journalists Association board of directors voted unanimously to approve Denver as its 21st chapter on Aug. 8 during the organization’s annual convention at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel.

“We just added another star to the flag,” AAJA National President Sharon Chan wrote on her Twitter feed.
